STEP 3: Enter your sales tax and other custom settings based on how you would like the Unique Software to run your salon.
To setup the options for the Sales Register:
Select Misc/Register Setup then General Setup..
SALES REGISTER MENU You can select the different options depending on your salon requirements. The following explains each screen label and what information is required in that field if you need it.
Field Labels
Sales Tax % Sales Tax percentage. Enter this rate in a percentage format. For example, 8.5% would be entered as 8.50 Service Tax % Service Tax percentage. Enter this rate in a percentage format. For example, 5.5% would be entered as 5.50
Collect Sales Tax? Tax your retail products & services when you ring up the sale. If there is no tax on service, enter zero for the service tax rate.
Collect Client Statistics? This is asking you if you want Unique to keep track of information on your clients automatically. If you do, before every Sale is rung up Unique will ask you several questions about your client. Specifically, the questions are: Request Client or Walk-in Client? "R/W" You would enter one of the above initials in the appropriate box. Unique uses this information in the Client Statistics report (found in the Daily and Period Sales Reports) to generate information about the type of clients your salon serves and how much money each group of clients brings in to your salon. This information can be useful in helping you determine the different sources of your income and your the employee retention.
Default Discount Rate If you have a standard discount rate you offer for sales, you can enter that rate. Most salons offer a 10% discount rate on retail items. If you setup a 10% discount rate in this field, every time you enter a sale with a discount, the system will automatically default to 10%. You do however have the option to override the rate you setup here during the sales process. You can also enter a dollar amount as the discount.
Require Sales Password If you want a password required in order to open the cash drawer, enter "Y" for yes. You will need to setup your security level for who you want to open the cash drawer. Level 1 - 5 (5 being the highest level).
Track Cashiers? Select Yes or No if you want to keep track of which employee made the sales transaction.
User Supplied Sales Ticket? If you want Unique to automatically generate a sales slip number for every transaction, select the check box for a generated sales slip number. If you want to enter your own sales slip numbers, select the check box for your own sales slip number. If you choose to enter your own sales slip number, Unique will ask you to enter a sales Ticket number before ringing up each sale. A sales ticket number is the number located on the ticket book that the operator will hand into the receptionist. We recommend that you use this number because it will help you track of errors easily at the end of the day in your daily report printout.
Next Sales Slip Number If you answered No for the preceding"User Supplied Sales Ticket" question, you can enter the next sales slip number that will be used by Unique.
Track Clients? Forces the person ringing up a ticket to select a client name so that the client history for that individual will be updated automatically. We strongly recommend this option.
Multiple Clients Per SaleTrack multiple individuals on one sales transaction. For example, If services for a mother & daughter are being paid with one check, they can be rung up on the same ticket and the system will track their service information separately. Place the ticket numbers in the sales ticket entry field. For example, 25/36 ticket # 25 is for mother and ticket number 36 is for the daughter.
Ask for Client Referrals If you want the system to ask you every time you add a new client if they were referred by someone, then select the check box.
Print Company on A/R Invoice If you want your company name and address printed on your A/R invoices, select the checkbox for this option.
Retail Service Code Since the system is going to be used for retail sales also, click on the F10-Retail button which is assigned to ring up sales in the entering sales mode.
Show Client Address? Select the check box if you want the client's address to show up when you ring up a sale.
Cash Drawer Attached? Select the check box if there is an electronic cash drawer attached to your computer? If there is, Unique sends an open signal to the cash drawer whenever a Sale, Void, No-Sale, Petty Cash, Account payment, Gift Card or Gift Certificate purchase transaction is entered.
Cash Drawer Port This is the electrical connection to your cash drawer. Unique uses com1 port as the default assignment in the system.
Receipt Printer Attached? If you have a receipt printer attached to your computer and you want Unique to print sales receipts for every sale or return, select the check box. The system will automatically print receipts.
Receipt Printer Port There are three types of printer ports; USB ; parallel and serial. This refers to the method in which information is transferred from your computer to your printer. Most computers today will most likely use the USB port method.
Invoice Printer Attached? If you do not have a receipt printer and would like to use your regular printer to print receipts, then select this option. Check this option if you would like to use your standard printer.
Automatically Print Receipt? If you want the system to print a receipt every time a sale is rung, select the check box for yes. . If you selected for a receipt printer attached and did not select for the system to automatically print receipts, Unique will prompt you to select a receipt button every time the sale is completed to print a receipt. If the customer wants a receipt select the F1 button. If they do not want a receipt, select Done.
Message on Bottom of Receipt This is the message that will print on the bottom of every receipt. If there is no receipt printer attached (i.e., you answered No to the proceeding "Receipt Printer Attached" question) this will be ignored. If there is a receipt printer attached to your computer, whatever message is entered here will appear at the bottom of each receipt. The message will appear on the receipt exactly as it is entered here.
