Clear History Files

clip0001 Before clearing any type of History files we strongly recommend a complete backup of all your current data files.

If you have enough hard drive space it is not necessary for you to clear out any history files. Since Unique uses the history files to do a year to year comparison, you will not want to clear them. If you have data that is over 5 years old or you may have some personal reason to clear it out - then clear it out. Please always do a backup first.

To remove out old history:

Select Files/Clear History Files  from the Maintenance  menu. You are presented with the following list of groups of history files:

Inventory Received History

Inventory Sales History

Client Service History

Client Retail History

Client Misc History

Gift Certificate History

Sales/Service Tax History

Employee Withholding History

Checking Account 1

Checking Account 2

Profit Report

Time Clock Report

Deleted Appointment

Missed Appointments

Day Spa Accounts

Closed Purchase Orders

Select the group of history files that you want to clear out and enter the removal date.

Unique will remove all information in the file up through the specified date. For example, if you wanted to clear out your inventory sales history through the end of 1996 you would select Inventory Sales History and enter a date of 12/31/96.

Unique would then remove all the information through the end of the year and leave all the data for 1997.

When removing information from the Sales/Service Tax History , the Employee Withholding History, and the Checking Account, be careful not to remove any information that is required for generating accurate financial and payroll reports. This means do not remove any information that is used for your current payroll year or your current fiscal year. Your payroll year is the same as the calendar year (January 1 through December 31).

Your fiscal year is the accounting year you setup with your accountant when you started your business.

Take the earlier of the two beginning dates and do not remove any information after that date.
