1. How does my barcode scanner work? Your barcode scanner is mainly an interpreter that take symbols called a barcode and converts them into letters or numbers and types them unto your computer screen at lightning speed so that you don't have to type them manually.
2. What is a Barcode? A barcode is a universal symbol that is used by barcode scanners to input code number into your computer without you having to type it in. The Number located below the barcode symbol is the equivalent interpretation of the barcode symbol.
3. How do I make my own barcode? With the Unique barcode software provided you can produce your own barcodes for products that don't have a barcode. The Barcode software will take whatever part number you have assigned to a specific item and will automatically convert it to a barcode. You can then print the barcodes on special preformatted labels. (See below.)
4. How do I change my current inventory part number to the barcode part number on my products? It's easy. You go to inventory from the Main Menu and you find the product you will Like to change. You then go to Edit and Edit Part Number. Unique will show you the Old part number and a place for you to type in the new part number. At this point you take the barcode scanner and you scan the barcode on the bottle and press the little button below, You will here a beep and a number will appear on your screen. That's It. You can now go and change all of the other inventory items to the barcode part Number on the bottles.
5. How do I use these new numbers? Instead of manually entering the part number when you ring up a sale, just scan the barcode on the bottle when you're in the retail sales option. Remember before Scanning the barcode make sure you press F10 if you are ringing up a normal sale.
6. What type of labels do I use? You can use: Avery 5160(1X 2 5/8) 3 Large Labels across - 30 Labels on a page. or Avery 5167/5267(1/2 X 1 3/4) 4 Small labels across - 80 Labels on a page These labels can be bought from Nebs- 1 (800) 338 3810 Dept # 11788 or you can purchase them at your Local office supply store, like Office Depot & Office Max.
