Back Up Files

This is probably one of the most important things that should be done with any computer system, and it's usually the most ignored. It can't be stressed enough.

BACKUP YOUR DATA FILES DAILY!   PLEASE!  PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!

If you regularly backup your files and something happens to your computer hardware from a computer crash or some other accident, you will be able to get up and running again with a minimum amount of headaches and delays.

Unique comes standard with its own Backup Application. We recommend that you use the backup module in Unique instead of a third party backup application.  With the usage of the Unique backup software it will be easier to restore your data incase you need to perform that task.

Backup Your Data Daily.

Unique Strongly recommends that you backup your salon software daily. We also stress that you get a memory flash drive for each day that your salon is open for business for the week and rotate these USB Memory flash drives on that particular day of the week. For example if you are open 5 days in the week. You will then label each jump drive - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday. On Tuesday you will use Tuesdays drive, on Wednesday use its drive etc. Now for the next week you will use the same corresponding drive for that day of the week for your backup. Do it Daily

note The little few dollars you will spend for the drives is worth more that the headache of losing all your salon information in the case of a computer crash or a virus.

We don't' recommend that you use the same backup  media or  diskette everyday.

To Back up your files:

Select File Backup/Backup from the Main Menu
Select setup to set the drive letter of the USB drive.
Select Backup and follow the backup screen prompts.

To Verify that you have backup your system you can use  the VIEW menu the backup media and it should have a file on it with the date and time that you did the backup.

Please note, that the data in the backup file will not be easily viewable using conventional applications. (The backup data is compressed into a single file which is not easily viewable)
